The University specialises in anthropology, archaeology, ancient history, business management, Chinese studies, classics, English, film and media studies, history, information technology, media production, philosophy, theology and religious studies.

The Social Scene
Student life in Lampeter, as anywhere, is what you make of it but is always lively and friendly. For many students in Lampeter, the Students' Union is at the heart of student life, whether to meet with friends for a coffee between lectures, or for a night out ranging from comedy acts to big name bands. Clubs and Societies are another important aspect of student life and these change as regularly as students' interests change, but if there is a passion that you think is missing, it is easy to set up a new society within the structure of the Union. At present, popular societies include the Medieval Society, Circus Society, LARP and the Tea and Pudding Societies!
Even though Lampeter is not a large city, there is plenty of student-centred entertainment and activities, both on campus and in town. Our students frequently complain that they are too busy to write their essays!

The University of Wales Lampeter is the oldest university institution in England and Wales after Oxford and Cambridge being founded in 1822. The University is located within the Dyfed-Powys police authority which regularly reports the lowest crime rates in the country. Both personal and household crime levels are half the average for England and Wales and the sense of personal safety that this brings means that you have more time and energy to concentrate on enjoying life.
